Essential winter care by Kama Ayurveda
Posted on January 4, 2022
The season of gray skies and cold winds is upon us and as winter sets in, with the temperature dropping, our skin produces less sebum, causing dryness, itching, dullness and pigmentation – affecting our skin. from the scalp to the feet. At Kama Ayurveda, we encourage our clients to change their beauty regimes with the change of seasons. The foundation of Ayurveda lies in the belief that our body makeup reflects every season of the year. Ritucharya, an ancient Ayurvedic practice of changing our lifestyle and diet according to the season, describes this concept. This allows us to develop our physical and mental strength to prevent ailments that may arise due to seasonal changes.
Rather than a trendy approach, we always recommend rituals using pure ingredients and in accordance with your beauty needs to target the well-being of the face, body and hair.
A GENTLE BODY SCRUB
Most of us know how hydrating the skin is an absolute must during winters. But no matter how much we hydrate our skin, we can’t get rid of dry skin without a gentle exfoliation. We strongly recommend that you use natural scrubs for the body as well as the face. Neem Tulsi Tea Tree Body Scrub unclogs pores and removes dead skin cells to reveal fresher, toned and revitalized skin. Neem and tea tree help cleanse acne-prone skin, making it appear less oily. The nutshell powder acts as a gentle exfoliating agent and removes dead, dull skin.

COCOONE YOUR SKIN
We suggest weekly oil massage or Abhyanga with Kama Ayurveda’s Jwalini Re-Texturizing Skin Treatment mixed with Ayurvedic ingredients like Costus and Tamanu to soothe dry, itchy skin. The self-massage ritual not only improves blood circulation by warming our body, but is also a great exercise in mindfulness. Wash off the oil with mild, sulfate-free cleansing gels in lukewarm water. Dry completely with a soft cotton towel and apply a rich layer of body butter. Kokum & Almond Body Butter is made with 100% organic cold pressed sweet almond oil and coconut oil. Rich in fiber, vitamins A, E and minerals, which relieve dryness and contain natural antioxidants to increase skin elasticity.

Applying facial oils and serums just before hydration is the most important step for hydration. Face serums and oils are loaded with moisturizing ingredients and can provide your skin with enough water content before the moisturizer blocks it. We recommend natural face oil, Urjasara hydrating and regenerating face oil and organic moringa oil.
Available in stores and online for INR 495 – 2250
It is recommended to use a separate moisturizer for day and night. A thicker moisturizer is recommended at night, especially if you are using the heater. We might not realize it, but our skin is constantly losing moisture even when we are sleeping. We recommend Kama Ayurveda Eladi Ayurvedic Moisturizing Face Cream for the day and Kama Ayurveda Rejuvenating and Brightening Night Cream for the night.

ROOT TO TIP HAIR CARE
A centuries-old Ayurvedic text describes many herbs that are useful for the hair. Among all, there is one clear winner – Bhringraj, the king of herbs! Also known as the false daisy, Bhringraj is a miraculous herb in the sunflower family. Kama Ayurveda combines Bhringraj with herbs like Amla, Indigo, Sesame and Balloon Vines to create their iconic Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil. Together, these herbs prevent hair loss, scalp irritation, dandruff, and premature graying.
