A SALON owner explained the most annoying things customers say, and they even try to get a refund on TIPS.
Teresa Van Dam explains that customers often call with ridiculous complaints, or worse yet, to have their mothers call them.
Speaking to her TikTok platform, the hairstylist and salon owner said she had previously called a client’s mother and asked for a refund for a tip her daughter gave her.
Publication under domain @theresavandamstylist, Teresa reconstituted a call she had with her clients’ mom on the phone.
Teresa said the woman said: “So my daughter was there last Saturday, and it looks like she paid a pretty dime for her hair, and I’m not happy with the amount she gave you.”
After asking what the mother meant by that, Teresa said the client’s mother said, “She paid $ 300 for her hair, she didn’t have to tip you $ 20.”

The salon owner said she would look for the client on the system and asked if the mother paid with her own card for her daughter.
Teresa said the mother responded by saying, “Oh no, she paid with her own credit card, but I’m in charge of her finances.”
Teresa searched for the client and confirmed to her mother that her daughter was 24 years old.
Mother said, “Yes, but as you can see she has a spending problem. So I would like to get $ 15 back from that tip please.”
After Teresa was clearly taken aback, the mother said, “Are you having trouble understanding?”
Adding: “I don’t want to collect it from his credit card although I want to come and collect it in cash.”
Teresa explained that the payment could only be refunded through the same payment method.
“Seeing that she’s an adult, I’m not going to publish it at all,” Teresa said.
The mother said she would not let Teresa speak to her daughter because “it was none of her business” and continued to press for cash reimbursement of the tip.
Teresa then explained how, when the mother realized that her daughter could hear her phone call, she pretended that she was on the phone with someone else.
Iin another message, Teresa explains how the mother of another client called to complain that not all of the stylists in the salon had specialized in extensions.
Asking to speak to the manager when she called, a mother explained that her daughter wanted to have extensions done in Teresa’s salon, but the hairdresser she “messaged on Instagram” didn’t actually worked with extensions.

Teresa explained that only four of her staff are certified in extension, to which the mother replied, “So there are only four of you who know your hair?”
The mom continued to ask why ALL the staff weren’t qualified for extensions, saying her daughter wanted this specific stylist to do her hair.
“I hear you, but this stylist doesn’t have an extension certification so she won’t be able to do the extensions on her. She can do the color and someone else can do the extensions,” Teresa said. .
The client’s mother said she wouldn’t take another stylist to do the extensions, and when Teresa said “it doesn’t work that way,” the mother replied, “well that’s just stupid. “.
