A HIGHLAND hairdresser who has already shown himself a cut above has landed another first.

Hair stylist from Inverness, Ego Hair Design has been named the world’s first accredited ‘mindfulness’ salon.

Salon owner Caroline Sanderson won the honor after her team completed the first certified mindfulness course in continuing professional development for small businesses.

Ms. Sanderson is the multi-award winning owner of Ego Hair Design in Inverness and the five-star accredited Salon Jedi salon coaching academy.

This is because my team is calm, focused and confident thanks to their training. There has never been a time when mindfulness is needed more – Caroline Sanderson

She credits the mindfulness of helping put her business back on the brink of closure during the 2009 recession, when it not only recovered its way from bankruptcy, but grew into a thriving and multiple award-winning business that has won Salon of the Year at the British Hairdressing Business Awards and Most Wanted Business Thinker, for the third time, in 2021.

This year, she is shortlisted for four British Hairdressing Business Awards, four British Hairdressing Awards and four Hair and Beauty Awards.

Each team member has taken the mindfulness course, called the source code of the MINDFUL fair, which covers being more mindful in the work environment, mindset exercises, how to be mindful as a team, on what to focus on and why limiting beliefs cause crippling behaviors and how to shift that.

Ms Sanderson said: ‘I have been practicing and teaching mindfulness since 2011 and can directly attribute the incredible success my salon has had to this technique – can you imagine a small salon in the Highlands of Scotland being named the best salon? from the United Kingdom ?

“It’s because my team is calm, focused and confident through their training. There has never been a time when mindfulness is needed more.

“During the lockdown, I created a free five-day Magic Mind Challenge in which over 500 people, including children, participated. It’s five days of what I call my magic mind tools to help to the state of mind.

“It’s free and easy to find on Facebook, and suitable for everyone from individuals to businesses and teams. “

MS Sanderson’s second book, Mindset, Magic and Miracles, is available for pre-order and will be released soon.

The book covers mindfulness, human behavior, and controlling your emotions.
