Hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons’ favorite things

Want to recreate Khloe Kardashian’s sleek, polished, and daring hairstyles? Andrew Fitzsimons should be on your radar.

The Irish hair expert has been part of her elite glam team for some time now, getting creative with her ever-changing looks. He also teased the locks of his famous sisters, Ashley Graham, Adriana Lima, Megan Fox and many more.

After much anticipation, Fitzsimons has finally launched his own eponymous salon-worthy hair care line – Andrew Fitzsimons Hair – filling the gap in the market for inclusive products at affordable prices that raise the style stakes.

The formulas all feature a patented AF Bonding System, a plant-based complex that targets ionic bonds within the hair structure to strengthen and add elasticity and suppleness. There are repair, shine, blonde, curl, volume and styling ranges.

We caught up with Fitzsimons to find out the items he couldn’t live without.

What are you doing right now ?

I’m busier than I’ve ever been. I am currently in the process of launching my hair care brand, Andrew Fitzsimons. We recently launched Boots in England and Ireland, we are now working on our US launch before heading to Germany this summer. On top of that, it’s a very busy time for my clients presenting their new Hulu show, The Kardashians, and I try to be available to them as much as possible, so it’s a balancing act.

What prompted you to launch your own line?

I’ve been fortunate enough to partner with a number of top hair care brands over the past few years, and what I’ve learned is that creating salon-quality, high-performance products is not not as expensive as before. I wanted to create a line that I could use for a vogue a cover shoot or a red carpet look that my mom could also afford and find at Boots.

While the beauty industry has come a long way in recent years in terms of formula quality, inclusiveness and responsible marketing, there is still a long way to go. This brand is meant to truly celebrate women, not exploit insecurities to sell products. And, when we talk about inclusion, it’s not just about looks; the inclusion of the price is also very important.

Which product are you most proud of in the range?

Can I say them all? After so many cycles of perfecting these formulas, I feel like they are all my children. I will say that I have a soft spot in my heart for the AFTER SEX Texturizing Spray. A great texture spray is something every hairstylist needs in their kit, so I worked really hard to create the perfect balance of hold and grit for texture. It leaves your hair perfectly tousled, feels and smells great so Well.

What look do you prefer to create?

In fact, I don’t have a favorite look. One of the reasons I love hair styling so much is the ability to be creative and switch things up, so I’m always thinking about the next style.

Tell us about your personal grooming routine

In fact, I keep it pretty simple! I like Kylie Skin Cleanser and the Fenty Skin Fat Water Toning Lotion. Obviously I’m Irish so SPF is a must – I wear sunscreen every day!

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

It’s not a beauty product, it’s coffee!

What do you do to take care of yourself?

I’m naturally introverted, so alone time is really my way of recharging myself. I recently moved to an area of LA that’s a bit more remote than where I’ve lived in the past, which has been great because I can end my day in my house overlooking the city. I like to listen to music and relax.

What hair product should we add to our routine in our free time?

In fact, I have a product that’s super easy to use and won’t add a ton of time to your routine: the Andrew Fitzsimons AF1 Repair Leave-In Conditioner should be everyone’s new best friend. Simply spray from roots to ends on towel-dried hair and comb through before styling as usual (this is a great product to strengthen your locks for healthier, shinier hair) or you can air dry, if preferred.

What’s the one thing you wish people would stop doing to their hair?

Stop being so rough with your hair. A lot of people think they have to completely rev up their heat tools to make them work more efficiently, and that’s just not the case – you’re literally frying your hair. Plus, you don’t have to dry your hair as aggressively when you get out of the shower. Use a cotton ball or microfiber towel and gently squeeze the hair instead of ruffling it.

What beauty product would you like to invent?

Honestly, I made a few up in this line! We have some truly innovative products in the works that the hair care industry has never seen before…so stay tuned.
