A chance to say goodbye to the top hairstylist who died at 57

A much-loved hairdresser’s funeral procession will leave from outside his salon.

Award-winning Kevin Finnell has died in hospital after suffering a heart attack aged just 57.

Barrhead is set to come out in full force on Monday to celebrate Kevin’s life.

The hearse will depart from outside the F&M hair salon in Cross Arthurlie Street.

Kevin’s final journey will continue down Main Street and into The Hurlet’s new crematorium from 1pm.

Husband Brian MacMillan said Kevin would have been “stunned” by the reaction to his shock death.

Brian, who ran the show with Kevin, said: “First of all I would like to say a huge thank you for all the feedback, love and support I have received from so many people.

“The flowers and cards were truly overwhelming. Kevin would have been flabbergasted and very proud, so thank you.

“Kevin will leave our living room of which he was so proud, before going on the main street to the crematorium.

“Anyone who wishes to pay their respects will be welcome.”

The family is asking for donations to the Golden Jubilee ICU Endowment Fund.

He was in intensive care at Clydebank Cardiology Specialist Hospital when he died.

Brian, 48, added: “The ICU team that cared for Kevin were amazing and we would like to donate for their training and facilities in honor of Kevin.”

Kevin died on Valentine’s Day a week after suffering a heart attack.

The upbeat hairstylist, who also lived in Barrhead, made his clientele feel “million dollar” at his Barrhead salon.

Last year, F&M was named Best Local Salon at the UK-wide Salon Business Awards.

It billed itself as ‘East Renfrewshire’s premier hairdresser’ and was the only hairdressing business in the area to achieve five stars in The Good Salon Guide.

Kevin had gotten into hairdressing after school and was still thriving in that job four decades later.
